Payment

Payment is required at least 48 hours before your child’s assessment or therapy session.

If you are paying for a treatment block in advance, full payment must be received at least 48 hours in advance of the first session.

If seen on a regular basis for more than one block of sessions, you may contact the office to make arrangements to pay in installments prior to the sessions.

If paying for therapy sessions in installments, it is a requirement to always pay one session in advance of the next session 48 hours before the session. If payment is not carried out in a timely manner, your child’s sessions may be witheld until payment is received.

Role of the Parent/Carer

A Parent / Carer or education staff (depending on the location of therapy) are required to sit in on every session with the child.

Health insurance

If you are claiming expenses through private health insurance, you will need to pay the therapy costs in full in accordance with the payment terms above and then claim this back through your insurance.

Cancellation Policy

All parties are expected to give as much notice as possible for a cancellation.

If the therapist needs to cancel the session then it will be re-arranged for the next earliest mutually convenient date.

If you cancel the session with 48 hours or more notice before the start of the appointment then the session can be rearranged at no cost.

If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice or don’t inform me of a cancellation, the session will be charged at full price.

Please note that for online sessions taking place in a school or nursery, it remains the responsibility of the child’s parent/carer to cancel the session if the session is not able to go ahead.

Termination of therapy

The therapist reserves the right to terminate therapy at any time.

If the therapist terminates the therapy, the expenses already incurred will be deducted and the rest of the money will be returned to you.

It is within the rights of the Parent / Carer to terminate therapy at the end of a block of six sessions.

This does not apply to school contracts. Term and termination of therapy for school contracts will be agreed in liaison with the school and drawn up in the contract prior to the start of the service.

Liaison with other professionals

RoseminSLT works in accordance with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) ‘Working in Harmony’ guidelines.

The parent / carer is expected to be responsible for informing the independent therapist of any other professionals involved with your child.

In many cases, children that receive independent therapy may also be on the waiting list or caseload for NHS Therapy. In this instance, it is anticipated that the parent / carer will inform both the Independent Therapist and the NHS Therapist of the involvement of the other.

In order to offer the most effective service to your child it is often important for the therapist to liaise with other professionals in your child’s care for the purpose of information sharing.

This may include liaising with NHS Speech and Language Therapists or other allied health professionals, education staff, your GP or other medical staff with your prior consent.

Professional registration and guidelines

RoseminSLT works according to professional guidelines set out by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP).

Safeguarding

Your therapist has got up to date enhanced DBS certification which you can view at any time.

In the event of a safeguarding concern, where your child or another person is at risk of harm, the therapist has a legal obligation to share that information with relevant professionals in line with the Safeguarding Children’s Act 2004.

Use of Video/audio recordings

Some assessments and therapy involve the use of video or audio recordings for analysis. You will be informed prior to the use of this in a session. The recordings will be temporarily stored on a secure device. Once the recording has been used as needed, it will be deleted. No copies will be retained.

Electronic Communication

Email is not a 100% secure method of communication. With your consent, it will be used for correspondence and to send letters, reports and other documents.

Documents will be password protected and saved in PDF format.

Correspondence by email to other professionals will be copied to you as necessary.

The therapist will refer to your child in emails by their initials or first name only.
